Character's name: Sally Acorn
Character's DW: [personal profile] acornprincess
Character's canon: Sonic the Hedgehog (cartoon series)

Brief (around 300 words) personality outline of your character:

Sally was raised to be the benevolent and wise ruler of her family's kingdom someday, but her war-torn life quickly transformed her, along with many of her young friends, into an orphan and soldier. Her royal background and sharp mind quickly propelled her into the role of ringleader of a band of rebels. Underlying both the princess and soldier is Sally, the warm and loving person she always was, working within the constraints of her roles.

One of the first things a proper princess learns is the art of skillful communication. In this, Sally mostly succeeds. Her speeches, backed by her proven tactical skill, are effective at motivating her loyal Freedom Fighters to act. When they're not on the battlefield she listens to their concerns with a sympathetic ear, often bears the royal duty of solving others' problems, and serves as a confidante. Interestingly, though, this doesn't leave her much time to address her personal problems. It's not becoming of a princess to appear weak, and so she hides her worst fears from all but the closest of friends. Because she's been raised to keep a friendly distance, she doesn't have many of those.

Hard work is another value of the royal family, and Sally takes great pride in her responsibilities. She often works long into the night on plans, refuses to rest, and expects a similar level of dedication from all her Freedom Fighters given the stakes of the war. When she feels particularly close to a victory or senses an advantage, she's prone to pushing the team too hard. That stubborn, single-minded focus comes out in many of her dealings.

In her role as future leader and current tactician, Sally views the Freedom Fighters and Knothole Village as her responsibility. If a mission fails, she takes most of the blame upon herself, though she won't hesitate to offer criticism of her teammates. She's come across as overly critical and bossy due to this. She'll even go to greater lengths than anyone else in their unit to distrust outsiders, fearing for her group's safety. If any of them fell into one of Robotnik's traps, her heart would break.

At her core, Sally is a loving and emotional person. More than just a distant princess, she spends the few spare moments of down time trying to navigate the ups and downs of friendship. Much of that love and care goes into raising Tails, a young Freedom Fighter that Sally loves as her own family, but the others receive plenty of hugs and kisses from their sometimes overbearing princess and friend. Their common cause and the love for their world create a powerful bond.

Brief (around 500 words) history and background of your character OR link to a really good wiki page with their history. In either case, explain where they cut off from the timeline:

Princess Sally Alicia Acorn was born in the beautiful Mobian city of Mobotropolis, the center of the peaceful Kingdom of Acorn. She was raised in the palace, learning proper royal etiquette and receiving a proper education. It wasn't all bore and snore time, though: her father, King Acorn, was close with Sir Charles Hedgehog, one of his knights and the finest inventor of the kingdom. Charles' little nephew, the speedy Sonic Hedgehog, quickly befriended the princess. Together, they squabbled and played and squabbled some more, setting the stage for their future together.

All did not remain well in the kingdom for long, though. When Sally and Sonic were just five years old, King Acorn's military advisor, Julian Kintobor, made his move. Renaming himself Dr. Robotnik, the egg-bellied evil overlord used his evil genius and stolen technology to turn Mobotropolis into Robotropolis, a deserted wasteland with all the life and color of the Kingdom of Acorn removed. King Acorn was banished into an outer-dimensional vortex known as The Void, and Queen Acorn disappeared in the chaos, believed to be dead.

Worse, Dr. Robotnik unveiled the crown jewel of his stolen technology, the Roboticizer. With its terrifying power, he transformed most of the city's population into unwilling robotic slaves. As Sir Charles would reveal later, the slaves were fully conscious for every moment of their servitude. This was the fate that awaited all who crossed Robotnik and got caught.

The newly orphaned Sally and her young friends were whisked away to Knothole, a tiny woodland village hidden from Robotnik's growing empire. Sally and company were raised by the tiny village, safe from the world, but the gravity of the situation weighed on their minds day after day. By age ten, Sonic, Sally, and their band of friends began their attacks on Robotropolis, calling themselves the Freedom Fighters.

Over the years, the skill and sophistication of their attacks grew. By the time Sonic and Sally were sixteen, the young Freedom Fighters were coordinating a true guerrilla war against Robotnik. With Sally's tactical skill, Sonic's speed, Rotor's mechanical know-how, Bunnie's combat ability, and Antoine's...insufferable Antoine-ness, they worked hard at chipping away Robotnik's power bit by bit.

The last year of the war brought the biggest gains. With some lucky information-gathering, the crew was able to learn that Sally's father was alive. They managed to free Sir Charles's mind from its roboticized state and enlist him as a spy, set up a network of the remaining Freedom Fighters, locate King Acorn, and make significant inroads into constructing a de-roboticizer that would reverse the enslavement process.

Finally, it all came to a head when Robotnik began to execute a plan known as the Doomsday Project. Its immense power would output far more robots and ships than ever before, allowing him to swiftly claim all of Mobius as his own personal wasteland. The terrifying project was completed and nearly fully activated, but Sonic and Sally took a risk by wielding the immense power of objects known as the Power Stones. With that power, they managed the long-dreamed-of feat of toppling Robotnik...hopefully for good.

This is where she breaks from the timeline, the night after Robotnik's defeat.

Sample post (just a general, everyday, puttering-around-the-ship post; please include a snippet of dialogue):

After a long and difficult night of planning, computations, and testing each aspect from every conceivable angle, Sally believed she had a workable plan for a mission! They would be descending toward the planet shortly, so timing was critical. She'd have to catch their attention soon enough for the plan to sink in, but not so soon that they were prone to forget the details. That had happened more than enough times in the past.

The conversations had seemed to reach a lull. This was her moment! She rolled her shoulders back, prepared the omnicom to transmit data, and called out in her best attempt at a regal voice.

"Everyone, may I have your attention please? We need to review the plan!"

No one seemed to be listening. She tried again, a little louder.

"Excuse me, everyone, but we need to go over the plan! Do you want to walk in unprepared?"

That time, a few peoples' heads seemed to perk up. They looked left and right in search of the source of the noise, though none of them found Sally. That was when she realized the potential problem. With her height of a mere three feet, the rest of the crew towered over her. For once, she was invisible in a crowd. She'd have to change that.

Sally leapt from table to couch, finally perching on a point on top of one of the meat couches. That, at least, put her closer to everyone else's eye level.

"Hello? May I have your attention, please!" That time, heads turned to look at her and remained facing her direction.

"Hi. I'm Sally Acorn if we haven't already met. I've been asked to draft a plan for our raid, and I believe we have something that will work. Accept my file transfer to your omnicoms, and you'll see..."

They hadn't even started, and it was already a long day.

If the character has magic, mutant, or otherwise metahuman abilities, please explain what they are and outline EXACTLY how they function, as their powers may not work due to the nature of the ship or may need to be limited somehow:

None!

Non-superhuman special abilities of note (Is your character a master ventriloquist? A naturally-occurring super-genius? The best martial artist in the world? Say so here):

Sally's greatest strengths are her tactical mind, logical ability, and computer operation skill. She draws up the plans for the Freedom Fighters' raids of Robotropolis, though the others are better at amending them on the fly than she is. Her logical ability often solves tricky puzzles. Finally, she operates NICOLE, an advanced computer with many functions. Her skill is shown to translate to other computer systems, where she often cracks codes.

And while she's no master martial artist, she's shown to have some basic self defense training, as all Freedom Fighters do, and her own gymnastic skill.
